Most properties are placed on the map from their address. In two situations you will want to set the property's location yourself with the map pin, which fills in its Latitude and Longitude.
Scenario 1: The Address is Brand New (Not yet on Google Maps)
When you are dealing with a newly constructed building or a freshly developed subdivision, Google Maps might not recognize the street name or house number yet, so the address suggestions won't find it.
Scenario 2: Multiple Areas Share the Exact Same Address
If you service large properties where different parts of the property have the same physical address, you can save them as separate properties and give each one its own pin.
Setting the Location With the Map Pin
Every Add Property and Edit Property form shows a map under the Latitude and Longitude fields.
- Open the property's Add Property or Edit Property form.
- Enter the Street, City, State and Zip as usual. If Google doesn't suggest the address yet, type it in.
- Click the spot on the map where the property is, or drag the pin there. Latitude and Longitude fill in automatically.
- Save the property.
Latitude and Longitude can no longer be typed or pasted. Use the pin or the address suggestions to set them. You no longer need to copy coordinates from Google Maps.
After you move the pin, Spraye shows Address at this point: … with a Use this address link. Clicking it fills Street, City, State and Zip (Address 2 and the pin are left as they are). The address is never changed unless you click the link.
Properties saved with coordinates in the Address field: earlier versions of this article suggested pasting the latitude and longitude into the Address field. Those properties were not changed. To clean one up, open Edit Property, enter its real street address, set the pin on the correct spot, and save.
