The "New Customer" tag in Spraye is designed specifically to help field technicians and office staff prioritize a client's very first service visit.
Because a new customer's initial service (whether it is a Lawn Evaluation, Aeration, or Top Dressing) often needs to be completed out of sequence with standard neighborhood routing schedules, this tag provides immediate visibility for that initial visit.
Important: The system will automatically remove the New Customer tag as soon as the first service is completed regardless of what type of service it was unless it is a sales visit
Best Practices for Tracking New Clients Beyond the First Visit
If your workflow relies on tracking new customers through their full first-year program schedule, relying solely on the temporary "New Customer" tag can lead to missed program services.
Here are two recommended alternatives to track new clients effectively:
Option 1: Custom Year-Based Tags (Recommended)
You can create custom, permanent tags based on when a client joined your business (for example: Started 2026, Started 2027).
- Manual Tagging: Add these tags to individual customer profiles as they sign up.
- Bulk Tagging Service: If you need to apply tags to your existing client database in bulk, please see our knowledge base article about using the bulk edit tags feature.
Option 2: Use the Marketing / Customer Data Report
Rather than relying on tags, you can pull a precise list of new clients based on their program assignment dates.
- Navigate to Reports -> Marketing / Customer Data Report.
- Filter the report by the date range when a program was first assigned.
- Run the report to view or export a complete list of customers who started their programs within that time frame.
